DCMI

Drum Circle Music Iconography (DCMI) was created by Kalani and provides facilitators with a means to notate, plan, transcribe and cross-reference the events and activities that take place in a drum circle setting.

DCMI is the first true notation system developed specifically for DCFs (drum circle facilitators) and is extremely effective as a developmental tool, used in training, education and professional development applications.

DCMI icons are easy to read and write; they can help visual learners comprehend and remember sequences of cues, providing a way to visualize, notate and "chunk" combinations of cues without writing out long descriptions.

You can use DCMI to:

• transcribe drum circle events as they evolve.

• learn and recall drum circle activities.

• note your ideas or journal your experiences after an event.

• represent drum circle activities to other facilitators across the boundaries of language.

• integrate music and graphic arts.

DCMI appears in the upper-left corner of the Together in Rhythm DVD and follows the actions of the facilitator.

To discover more ways to use DCMI, see Together in Rhythm or attend one of our training programs.
DCMI is part of the core DCM technology and available for anyone to use.
Facilitators are encouraged to add their own icons, expand on the uses of DCMI and share them with other facilitators.
We welcome your ideas and feedback.

How will you use DCMI?
